"My son's emergency surgery"

About: General practices in Fife NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Victoria Hospital / Admissions Unit 2 (Emergency Surgical)

(as a parent/guardian),

My son has a profound learning disability & had to attend the Surgical Admissions Unit 2 at the Victoria Hospital to have surgery in Feb. The understanding we received from everyone from the ladies on the NHS 24 line, the GP who did the home visit, the nurses who gave us a private room, hospital staff, doctors & the anaesthetist who came up with a brilliant idea to actually get him into theatre, was exceptional. There really are not enough words to express my gratitude, so thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Dear am20

Thank you so much for sharing your story on Care Opinion. I was sorry to learn that your son required surgery and I hope he is recovering well. Whilst I understand this would have been a worrying and anxious time for you all, it is clear from your feedback that this was an overall positive experience due to the person-centred approach from the staff involved. I am pleased all went well.

Thanks for specifically making reference to your call to NHS 24. It would be great to be able to share your feedback directly with the staff involved, so if you would be kind enough to contact me directly with some additional detail that would be helpful. You can get me on 0141 337 4544 or at patient.experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

The Out of Hours GP and staff within the Victoria Hospital sound like they are a huge credit to the NHS., Well done to them for putting you all at ease.

With regards

Shona
