"I was treated so well whilst in their care"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde New Victoria Hospital / X-rays and scans West Scotland Breast Screening Centre

(as the patient),

I have a wonderful GP and reception staff at Queens Park Medical Practice Glasgow and was referred by Dr O,Neil there after seeing her the same day I phoned for appointment.

Within ten days I was at the one stop breast clinic, where mammograms, ultrasound and biopsies were carried out by a lovely Spanish doctor then the very caring surgeon Allison confirmed that I had breast cancer. My mastectomy could have been done very quickly but I was booked to fly to Florida next week returning end of December.

I have now been attending surgeon, Ms Reid who carried out my mastectomy in January. I stayed in ward 3 at New Victoria for few days and all the staff (all female) were truly fabulous and treated me with so much care and dignity. I’ve been back to Ms Reid two weeks later who explained all results and the next course of treatment and have been assigned Natalie, breast care nurse, who is lovely and always puts me at perfect ease. Ms Reid is a very straight talker, which I prefer and has answered all my questions with honesty. She is actually very nice and I know I’m in safe, skilled hands. She has set the ball rolling quickly and I’ve already had my bone scan and have date for CT scan in few days time. Louise and Sandra at department of nuclear medicine New Victoria are wonderful. I was treated so well whilst in their care today.

I wish to extend a HUGE thank you to our NHS Scotland and to all of the above. I could not have received better care had I been attending a private hospital. My breast cancer journey is going to go on for a while yet but I am so very grateful and appreciative

Dear Just Joan

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story.

I cannot begin to imagine what you have been through, but I am so pleased to read about the care and support that you have received from the staff during this difficult journey. It is lovely to read about the staff in ward 3 who were ‘fabulous and treated you with so much care and dignity’.

I will be delighted to share your appreciation and thanks with the staff in Ward 3, Ms Reid, Natalie and Louise and Sandra at the Nuclear Medicine Department. I am sure they will be very grateful and humbled.

I wish you well.

Take care

Nicole
