"A procedure to remove a cataract"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Day Surgery University Hospital Hairmyres / Ophthalmology University Hospital Hairmyres / Pre Operative Assessment

(as the patient),

I had a cataract removed one Saturday at Hairmyers Hospital in East Kilbride, near Glasgow.

I was welcomed by Ann and looked after by her and the wonderful nurses in the Ophthalmology Day Surgery Department. They were friendly, helpful and professional. I was seen quickly and the procedure performed by the marvellous Dr Hove. He was reassuring and gentle as well as being handsome! All my questions were answered and my aftercare explained fully and comprehensively. My companion was called by the nurses and I was offered coffee, biscuits and sandwiches while I was waiting.

One week later my vision is clearer, colours brighter. I had no pain and very little discomfort.

I would like to express sincere thanks to all at the Ophthalmology Day Surgery Unit at Hairmyers Hospital. You’re the best!
