Last Friday, I underwent a bronchoscopy in the Day Bed Suite at the Western General in Edinburgh. My experience there simply enhanced my ever increasing positive opinion about the treatment, care and overall support I’ve received since being diagnosed with stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer in May 2018.
Everyone of the doctors, nurses and support staff I have encountered are a credit to this hospital and the NHS as a whole.
The procedure I had on Friday was first of all explained to me via a phone call from Dr Reid, making it clear that I was in safe hands and then ahead of the procedure Dr Leitch, again went through in detail what would happen and put me at ease. His support team during the procedure and the nurses before and after in the ward could not have been more attentive and caring. Special mention to Tanya and Emily in the ward and to Natalie (who held my hand) and Prisca and Andrea in theatre.
You guys and others not named are stars, as are the many others who’ve taken care of me on my journey to date.
"You guys and others not named are stars...."
