About: University Hospital Wishaw / Care of the Elderly (Wards 9-12)

(as a parent/guardian),

My mother who suffers from vascular dementia was taken from her care home to Wishaw General for an injury to her finger where they operated to save two. As she has dementia they were keen to get her back to care home asap. The care home took fresh clothing and we also handed in similar, but on the day the paramedics returned her, all she had on was a skimpy top and a pair of hospital netting pants. nothing else. The care home was appalled as were we, when we learned of this today..just because she has dementia, doesn't mean her dignity should be ignored. Absolutely wrong.

I am sorry to hear of your Mothers recent encounter with the hospital.

I must say I am extremely disappointed to hear of this incident and would been keen to get some more details from you. This will enable us to investigate this further and feedback to the staff that this is not acceptable.
