"GP & Nurses Top Notch"

About: Upper Gordon Road Surgery

I’ve been using this surgery for over a decade and have always been satisfied with the delivery of their service . GPs Nurses Triage all fabulous apart from 1 GP but what let’s this practise down is the lack of compassion or understanding by the receptionists. The last year has been atrocious to say the least and considering they’re front line to the practise they should be on point like the maturer ladies that once occupied the desk!

They do not understand or (don’t want to ) that mental health or complex issues especially is hard without having 50 questions thrown at you and if your not responding in the manner they want they soon start saying “ your not listening to them “ or your becoming “aggressive “ and that unless we explain what the problem is they can’t help you ! I’m sorry but I don’t want to talk to you about it and when you ask them to get the GP on call to contact you they say I need to put something down for them to know the nature of the call . We have a choice what we want to disclose and what we don’t .

I’ve also had issues with repeat prescriptions and inaccurate appointments booked and now I tend to avoid at all costs unless I’m really unwell . That’s if your lucky to see a GP and heaven help you if you want to see your own one .

For a practise that could be exceptional it’s mediocre now and nothing is changing .

Female GPS and nurses outstanding ! They’re what keeps with practise afloat .

We am sorry to learn that you are unhappy with the services we are able to offer to our patients and that you feel the questions asked by our receptionists are inappropriate. The staff are required by the partners to ask basic questions regarding why the patient needs to be seen by a member of the clinical team if booking an 'on the day' or 'Triage' appointment. This allows the reception staff to allocate the work to the appropriate clinical team member. If patients do not want to disclose the reason then patients are just requested to say that it is personal; however this may mean that your request will not be actioned by an appropriate staff member and creates more work and a potentially longer wait for a response by the patient.

If you have specific concerns regarding your care, we would be more than happy to arrange a meeting to discuss these with you. Please contact the surgery to arrange a meeting with the Practice Manager.
