"Orthopaedic Referral"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I am currently caught up in a nightmare situation.

After being back and forth from my GP since September 2019, he has now provided me with some pain relief for (what they believe to be) nerve impingement from my spine which has led to a frozen shoulder. I am in agony.

Around 8 weeks ago GP sent urgent orthopaedic referral as well as physio referral as I need imaging and possibly cortizone injections to help.

I have heard nothing. I can no longer work due to the limited use of my arm and the immense pain.

I called the appointments line and was told that, upon receipt, my referral was reviewed and not deemed urgent and I have been put on to a 16 week waiting list!

How is this possible when I have not been seen by anyone at Wishaw? This situation is now impacting my mental wellbeing, overall health and relationship with my employer.

Who do I need to speak to to have this situation reviewed? Do I need to see my GP, your complaints department, local Councillor, MP? All I am asking for is some help here to enable me to overcome this and get back to work. I currently feel alone and trapped by this situation with nowhere to turn. Was my referral from my GP even looked at? Currently so disappointed...
