"I could not have asked for better"

I was referred for a colonoscopy and being my first, felt extremely apprehensive. I could not have asked for better care and treatment. The time from seeing my GP to having the colonoscopy was under two weeks. My appointment was made to take place at Solihull Hospital, close to where I live, so avoiding the extra hassle of having to travel to and return from a hospital further away.

Every staff member I encountered from the endoscopy reception until I was discharged was caring, helpful and reassuring. Clear explanations were provided at each stage of the process and I had complete confidence in them during the whole process.

Everything was centred on my needs and I was definitely treated as an individual and not just someone on a "conveyer belt" system. Timings were good and my partner was kept fully informed.

The final example of a personal touch was receiving a follow up telephone call the day after from one of the staff involved in my procedure to check on how I was and if I had any questions.
