Having been a patient of this Practice for many years I have seen the Practice develop and flourish into the best GP service in Paisley. The practice often leads with new developments that are copied by other surgeries and genuinely takes patient views to heart.
The surgery has developed it's own webpage where you can access health information, learn who would be the most appropriate professional to visit and you can even order your repeat medication online!
Changing the way GP appointments were made ( you phone in the morning for an appointment that day )has ensured that very few appointments with GPs are now wasted and you usually get to see whatever GP you want on the most suitable day for you. They also have early morning and late evening appointments for those working and some of these can be pre-booked ahead of time.
If you need to be seen again the Gp will even arrange your next appointment for you.
So you don't forget your appointments (GP / clinics/ blood tests etc) the practice will even text you a reminder a day or so beforehand (if you have left a mobile contact number)!
Being in the heart of the town near the University the surgery is also able to access interpreters if needed.
Over the years I have been a patient here I have not just been treated as an individual but as a human being, with kindness, care and compassion.
When you have chronic or long term problems the treatment you receive from the GPs, Nursing, Admin and Clerical staff is not just professional and courteous but almost a type of friendship where you can feel free to talk and explain your worries and fears and you are made to feel part of decision making process thats right for you.
The practice also has a 'Patient Focus Group' where changes to the practice are discussed and the views of the patient's sought. This is not just a 'talking shop' but a group that has helped shape and develop the practice to where it is today and we have to thank all the staff at King Street for allowing us to help with these changes.
As with any service the thing we all remember most is the staff and often folk are quick to moan but less likely to thank. I would like to thank all the 'ladies'
who answer the phones, sit at the front desk dealing with patients and do most of the hidden work behind the scenes that makes the practice tick. Without them we would not have the service we have today. For example last week I had a problem with travel insurance and the clerical officer spent a long while going through old records trying to find a blood result from 2005 that would influence how much I would pay for the insurance. Last year I had a reaction to medication and when I visited the surgery I became quite ill and started vomiting etc and it was the clerical staff who looked after me and attended to me till the GP could see me. The 'ladies' regularly go above and beyond their job descriptions and for that I thank them on behalf of all the patients in the surgery.
