I was referred by my optician with a letter to the emergency eye clinic, they said after test I had cataracts and should go back to my optician for a referel to the eye clinic fo a operation why couldn't the emergency eye clinic refer me why does my optician have to

Thank you for leaving feedback and you have raised an understandable question. As an emergency service the Emergency Eye Clinic is not able to make a referrals for you into hospital for planned surgery to be arranged. Any planned surgery or investigation by a hospital specialist has to be requested by a patient's GP, optician or general dental practitioner if the area of concern is dental.
