My mother has been a resident since 2017. She feels safe and secure and well cared for. She has help when she needs it but maintains her independence whenever she can. She is treated with dignity and respect. All the staff take time to talk to her and listen to her memories. There is a full programme of activities from crafting, gardening, 'knit and natter' and regular outings. Relatives are made extremely welcome and always invited to be involved in the home's activities with regular relatives meetings. Both residents and relatives are kept up to date with all developments and their opinions regularly sought. The home is cheerful and welcoming with lots of colourful decoration and the garden has been developed to cater for the residents to access it and be involved in it's maintenance. There is always music playing and many of the residents can be heard singing along! The introduction of small animals for the residents to access has been particularly beneficial to my mother. As is the regular visits of a therapy dog. The trips out of the home are particularly enjoyed by my mother and I have been welcomed to accompany them too which is a perfect example of involving residents' relatives in activities. The use of memory boxes and reminisce sessions always seems to be enjoyed by all including many of the younger staff who look upon the residents almost like grandparents. The staff and residents are very close and as I relative I find this important as I cannot visit as often as I might like. The home is in regular contact with me and I feel confident that my mother is receiving the best care. I would wholeheartedly recommend Rowthorne to anyone looking for a safe, secure and friendly residential home for an elderly relative. Thank you to all the staff. Keep up your excellent work.
