"When I had my mini stroke"

About: IC24 NHS 111 William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Accident and emergency William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Neurology

(as the patient),

In August 2017, I had what could be described as the worst crushing feeling in my head.

After dismissing this for 3 hours and taking tablets etc I woke the next day with the feeling of whiplash and confusion.

My daughter pressed me to call 111 to check my symptoms.

The call handler was very patient with me as we went through an assessment of my symptoms.

As the questioning became more intense, the call handler advised me to go straight to hospital, offering me an ambulance as she did not want me to drive. I accepted.

An ambulance came and too me to ANE Ashford.

I had had a mini stroke and spent four days in hospital, and have no side affects.

This could of been dismissed as a cold or migraine, but with the help of the call handler, it adverted any damage.

So do this I am grateful.
