"Excellent procedure delayed by computer system record keeping"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I had my cataract done last year both of them and I feel very grateful for the skill and expertise of the surgeons and all the staff at the Victoria (New). The surgeon asked me if I would mention the computer system record keeping at the New Victoria. The surgeon explained and I could see it for myself that there was a delay in operating on me and other people because the records were not automated and had to be delivered manually. This caused delay in the procedure. It was not a major inconvenience to me but slowed up things.

Apart from this weak link in the chain I was delighted and very grateful to everyone at the Victoria.

Thank you for providing your feedback, I was very pleased to read that the clinical care provided was of a high standard.

As a Board we are part way through a programme of computerising all patient records, which should do away with paper records. This as you can imagine is a significant task across all our Hospitals but one which we have embarked upon, as there is no doubt that this is better for patients and staff alike.

I hope that's helpful and thanks again for taking the time to share your great comments.

Paul
