"Happy to ask questions"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Medical/Gastroenterology (Ward 11)

(as a volunteer/advocate),

Ward 11

Nurses pleasant to patient and hard working. Medication a bit late the last 2 nights but staff are fewer in the evening.

Doctors when needed. Not on a daily basis. Doctor explained what the problem was for patient, which she understood. Patient knows road ahead. Care package to be put in place before going home. Patient understands follow up appointments on discharge. Patient happy to ask questions re care and these were answered to patient’s satisfaction.

Cleaning done very thoroughly. Curtain rails get dusted regularly as well as all another cleaning. Patient now knows all cleaning staff by name as they as are about so often.

Food good but choice limited when in hospital for a longer period of time.

Family happy with patient’s care while in hospital.

Dear UHH191 (as a volunteer/advocate

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Our staff work hard to maintain cleaning standards at all times. I will pass your comments to the domestic team.

I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the food. we work with a 3 week menu cycle that meets nutritional standards and this can become a bit repetitive if you are a patient for longer than this.

Regards

William

Dear UHH 191,

Thank you for sharing your experience of the ward with our volunteer. Your feedback is really important as it helps us understand what we are getting right and areas we might improve.

The nursing staff will be delighted that you have recognised their hard work and dedication; it's really gratifying for staff to know they are valued for the work they do.

I'm sorry for the delay in responding from when you shared your feedback and I hope you have managed to return home and are on the road to recovery.

Kind regards

Rick
