"Our dad in Ward 205"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Neurology (Brain, Spinal and Nerves)

(as a relative),

My dad was admitted to Ward 205 in January 2020.  He deteriorated very quickly but the care and compassion he was shown in the short time he was in the Ward was of a very high standard.

From the Registrar who first assessed him on the Sunday to the nurses and doctors who cared for him when he was at the end of life, they were all concerned with his treatment and spoke to him as an individual - even though he was confused initially and unresponsive latterly.  They made a very difficult time more bearable and treated us with kindness and respect.  I don't know surnames and cannot remember the first name for the lady Registrar but please can you pass on my thanks to them.  The nurses who were absolutely fantastic and worth their weight in gold were Grace, Christine and also Teresa.

Although the outcome was a sad one we will always remember the kindness, humanity and respect my dad and his family were shown.  It's a very difficult role they all do and we just wanted to commend them for this.

Dear Talas

I am sorry to hear about your dad. Thank you for taking the time to write to care opinion. I will ensure this is passed onto the team in 205, your kind words will mean so much to them. I’m glad you felt you were all treated with respect, kindness and compassion.

Kind Regards

Alison Pirie
