Last week I made a difficult decision regarding my loved one, on day one I received a phone call at ten thirty am, told my loved one has been vomiting overnight.
I went to the hospital asked the simple question of when did his bowels last move, after a while I was told three days ago so I suggested an enema would be an idea, nurse struggled to get an enema in, and all that came back was the enema fluid. Consultant requested an enema on day two, I was asked is the patient allergic to peanuts, no.
I asked on day 3 am how the enema went, sorry but its not done, that pm I was asked again is he allergic to peanuts, no. Phoned late evening, asked how the enema went, sorry its not done, again asked is he allergic to peanuts, no. It'll be done.
Phoned 4 30am, asked again but it was now day 4 and still no enema, is it acceptable to allow a patient who can't talk to not open the bowels for six days. Causes me sleep deprivation but I'm still having to have faith in the system. As a person would I go into hospital, definitely not by choice, I would rather take risks
