I had a wonderful experience when i gave birth even though it was pretty horrific, I haemorrhaged alot, and was really poorly
In my notes it was said i had to have my own room due to personal reasons, that got over looked and felt pretty much dumped on the ward, it was so busy with mom's and new baby's, relatives and kids running about, people arguing, shouting, music blasting, not a staff member in sight atall, I felt so uncomfortable, I ended up in tears where a lovely senior midwife told me there had been a mistake and my room will be ready in 10 minutes, she kept her word
Anyway..
3 very rude nurses gave me filthy looks and spoke down to me and my partner, they ripped the cover away from me (lack of dignity) and shouted at me to get my stuff, and hurry up. I was in complete shock, if they would of read my notes they would of known i had a catheter, and had an epidural and was unwell as i also have a disability. They started pushing the bed, and I think they were purposely banging me into every wall and laughing with each other, i had a total melt down, cried even more.. Their was just no care their at all.. I was horrified.
They left me in a room, i was in agony, no one came to check on me and my newborn for hours, at this point my partner was getting really frustrated, had to ring my mum and discharged myself, still no apology.
Things need to change, this can't be happening
I was left with severe pain in abdo/womb, I had retained placenta, felt suicidal, and had severe postnatal depression, and i really believe it was because of the lack of care on that ward, it was supposed to be the happiest day of my life and it was ruined, I will never get them precious moments back.
