"T Cell Non Hodgkins Lymphoma Diagnosis and Treatment"

About: Churchill Hospital / Nephrology Clinical haematology / Haematology ward Clinical haematology / Lymphoma Service

(as the patient),

Through the entire progress from diagnosis to treatment, the Haematology and Renal departments at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford have been superb and faultless. My situation was always unique and complex as I had travelled from abroad unwell all the way in an ambulance at my expense. I was already an immune suppressed renal patient. But from the very moment I arrived, I was cared for to the highest standard by all those involved. It has been and continues to be mentally and physically challenging but I know there is a support system in place if I have any concerns or issues regarding my health moving forward. My only feedback to anyone going through a similar scenario is to look after your body. Exercise, eat well (Less red meat and sugar IMO), don't smoke or drink and drink plenty of water. Also take an interest in your bloods. Do not be afraid to ask/discuss them. It's your body.

Dear 'Shunter',

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts about your care at the Churchill hospital. I am delighted to hear that you were so satisfied with the care you received, and that you feel that your complex situation was handled so well.

I will share your thoughts with my colleagues in the lymphoma team. They often don't get to hear how much their work means to the people they care for, so your efforts to share this feedback are much appreciated. I have also passed this feedback on to the Lead Nurse for Renal Medicine, so that she can share it with her team too.

You listed a few issues that we could improve on in the story summary above. Please do feel free to share more about your experience of these parts of the service as we are keen to learn more about what we need to work on, as well as what we are doing well. We also have a patient engagement group for people who have been treated in the haematology department. For more information about this group, and how your experience might help us to improve our service, please email OxfordBloodGroup@ouh.nhs.uk.

With very best wishes,

Catriona
