"Waiting MRI scan results"

About: Glenfield Hospital / General medicine Leicester Royal Infirmary / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

I've been waiting for over two months for the results of an MRI scan I had in early November at glenfield hospital Leicester after being referred by the ENT department at Leicester Royal infirmary due to my Audioligists concerns over my rapid hearing loss. I've reviewed the service on the website and had an email saying I would be notified of the outcome within twenty four hours. Yes, you guessed right,  week later I'm still waiting.

I'm feeling isolated and depressed as I cannot use the telephone, hear music, hear the tv or join in conversations with family and friends.  I know there are many others having much worse scenarios than I am.

Thank you for your response to my story. You have now given me some information on who I can contact to gain information about why I have waited so long to be given the results of my MRI scan that I had 10 weeks ago. Surely it’s not to difficult to give patients some indication as to how long they will have to wait for results of their scan and the reasons for the long delays in being given an appointment. It’s also very difficult and frustrating to gain access to information about what is happening to your particular case as telephones go unanswered and there are no contact details available on the website.

I believe that there are many other patients with far worse health issues than mine who are also suffering from stress and depression caused by such long delays in obtaining the results of their MRI scan.

Just being given your response to my story and information on whom to contact has given me some hope that I may get some recognition from the relevant department of the LRI that they are aware that I exist. I am a human being who is feeling depressed and isolated after the lack of any kind of response from them for such an unreasonable length of time. Even if we have to wait longer for an appointment just being made aware of the time scale before we can be seen would alleviate some of the anxiety and frustration for patients.
