My baby boy developed a cold prior to New Year and after a few days, I felt it wasn’t getting better and he needed reviewed by a medic due to a change in his breathing. I made an emergency appointment and initially was told I was unable to see a GP until later that morning. I explained my baby's medical history ( my son was ill following birth and was in neonatal for several weeks ) to the receptionist who spoke to the duty doctor and was told to come down to see her.
After review by the GP, it was decided that my baby required a paediatric review at University Hospital Wishaw. An ambulance was arranged and arrived shortly thereafter.
The paramedics Alistair and his colleague supported us in our journey to ward 19. We were then seen by the paediatric team at Wishaw (Annie, Dr Pinska and Dr O’Neill).
I would like to express my thanks to everybody involved in my baby’s care during a very worrying time for myself and my husband.
The NHS receives awful press at times which, in my opinion, they don’t deserve and I’m extremely grateful for all of their input.
