"Baby boy being unwell"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire Scottish Ambulance Service

(as a service user),

My baby boy developed a cold prior to New Year and after a few days, I felt it wasn’t getting better and he needed reviewed by a medic due to a change in his breathing. I made an emergency appointment and initially was told I was unable to see a GP until later that morning. I explained my baby's medical history ( my son was ill following birth and was in neonatal for several weeks ) to the receptionist who spoke to the duty doctor and was told to come down to see her.

After review by the GP, it was decided that my baby required a paediatric review at University Hospital Wishaw. An ambulance was arranged and arrived shortly thereafter.

The paramedics Alistair and his colleague supported us in our journey to ward 19. We were then seen by the paediatric team at Wishaw (Annie, Dr Pinska and Dr O’Neill).

I would like to express my thanks to everybody involved in my baby’s care during a very worrying time for myself and my husband.

The NHS receives awful press at times which, in my opinion,  they don’t deserve and I’m extremely grateful for all of their input.

Dear Aldo, please accept my thanks for your kind words relating to the NHS teams that were involved in the care of your baby.

I fully appreciate that when a baby is unwell it is a very worrying and stressful time and hope that he is now on the road to recovery.

If possible could you provide me with more details of the call to allow me to identify the ambulance crew to allow me to pass on your thoughts

Kind Regards

Andy
