"Trying to fix my dental problems"

About: Hampshire PCT

(as the patient),

The advice of the Periodontist is to call my own dentist and get my plate loosened off, also have a soft cushion fitted inside the plate.

I call my dentist who is on holiday this week and is fully booked the following week, then I'm told that they may not be able to do the work on the plate, am I expected to go to work with four missing front teeth while the plate is sent off for repair?

I am still going through hell as my mouth is full of ulcers and when I put the plate in I am having to cover it in the fix it paste to be able to wear it for even an hour. When the paste wears off I find I am chewing the plate this is now 4 months down the line. I am finding it difficult to sleep and eat and have an appointment to see my doctor about this now.

I can't continue the rest of my life like this, it is just not right! It's impacting on my physical and mental state of health, I'm avoiding talking to people because of this plate. The last thing I want is to be signed off work as I absolutely love my job but it does entail talking to peope, I work in the health sector.

I have made a decision to seek legal advice with the view to getting compensation just to be able to put what I see as negligence right. I should have been sent to a specialist when problems were first diagnosed and to think that my dentist had no intention of referring me to the gum specialist until I became quite assertive. Is this all about the nhs budgets? Is it my age which is against me? I don't drink alcohol or smoke!

I will continue to update those of you who are interested in my story, I'm determined that this will be resolved.
