My waters broke unexpectedly at 33 weeks and from the moment I arrived at maternity triage I was looked after by the most amazing team. I spent the best part of a week on Pearl Ward waiting for labour to start, I was then admitted to the Birth Place as an incredibly scared first time mum to be. My midwife Kelly kept me calm (a difficult task) and made me feel safe and well looked after throughout. It’s difficult to put into words how well I was looked after throughout giving birth, I came away from the whole experience feeling very positive.
My daughter was taken to the Oliver Fisher ward where she spent 4/5 days in Intensive Care and HDU. This part of our journey was particularly hard as you don’t expect to end up in the neonatal ward. However, once again the staff not only looked after my daughter brilliantly they also looked after my husband and I.
Finally we spent just over a week in transitional care. Again, the staff were so caring and supportive.
I can not fault a single member of staff who cared for me and my daughter. They made a very scary and stressful few weeks so much better. I felt like I was in the best possible place for my daughter and that nothing was ever too much to ask for.
I would not give birth anywhere else now.
Thank you to everyone who looked after us in September/October 2018 from an extremely grateful mum to a happy, healthy, cheeky 15 month old baby girl!
