"MRI scan"

(as the patient),

I am currently waiting on an MRI scan, I phoned to enquire about a date for the scan beginning of  December and was told it would be end of January as it is a 10 week wait. 10 minutes after this I received a call back offering me a cancellation for the end of December which I happily took. On the day I turned up for my appointment to be told that this hadn't been booked, I was really upset by this as I was anxious to begin with about the scan and also the wasted visit. I enquired if someone else has taken the appointment to be told no however I still couldn't get my scan. why would this be?  It is frustrating to think that there are appointments not been utilised when the waiting times are so long!

Dear Nicm

I am sorry to hear of your recent experience whilst attending for an MRI appointment though please be assured every step was taken that evening to try to accommodate your examination Unfortunately the scanner was in use for the next 3 hours and we were unable to fit you in despite this booking error

Please accept my apology regarding this unfortunate incident and know I will fully investigate this booking error to ensure this does not happen again

Thanks for your response, the girls in MRI were very sympathetic and I couldn't fault them and their attempts to rectify the situation, it was out of their control. I appreciate your apology and hopefully this can be avoided in the future. I now have a date for my MRI so am happy to not have to wait too much longer. Thanks again.
