"Chest Pains at 3am in the morning"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Ayr / Combined Assessment Unit (CAU)

(as a service user),

I was awoke to severe pain on right side of chest and arm. After 4 sprays GTN my wife caĺed 999. Ambuance arrived swiftly, and the guys attended to me well.

At the hospital,  I was met by 6 folk who quickly settled me in and had the blood results back very quickly. You do get the names introduced but can never remember them all.

I did get offer of refreshment eventually, which was well received. My treatment was explained to me all throughout.

My wife was with me and was offered some lunch too. The soup was delicious! I was offered another.

My 12 hour blood test was just a few minutes after 3pm, and  nicely taken. Hoping for an all clear and to go home with maybe follow up as to the cause.

Do the folk who treated me from ambulance through to Coronary Care get to see the story?

Delighted to hear that your journey through University Hospital Ayr was a good experience and that the CAU played a part in it. Trust that you have recovered well and would like to wish a happy new year to both yourself and your wife.

Gordon Elliott
