"Cataract operation"

About: Nottingham Woodthorpe Hospital

(as a service user),

I had my cataract assessed and operated on in one day. The care was excellent, and the surroundings were clean and comfortable. However I was not happy with the time I was kept waiting before the procedure. I was there for three hours before going into theatre, only about 15 minutes of that taken up with checks and tests, and in between those I was just left waiting, not knowing what was going to happen next. At one point the staff had their lunch break and I was told that if I wanted lunch I would need to go outside to fetch it, so I had to walk about 10 minutes to the nearest shop for a sandwich, with my vision blurred due to the drops that had been put in. I wouldn't of objected to paying for my lunch if it could have been provided there.
