"An example of exemplary care"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Accident and emergency Musgrove Park Hospital / General medicine South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

My wife was admitted to Resus at Musgrove about half an hour into Christmas day. We had already been supported brilliantly by a first responder and paramedics.

On arrival the Resus team was calm, thorough and entirely focused on the task. At the same time they were warm, responsive and human.
This quality of care continued in the Acute Medical Unit. My wife is a retired nurse and I have worked all my career in health and social care. We know how much pressure the system is under and the difficulties that the NHS is experiencing but this has been an example of exemplary care, committed staff at all levels and a system that focuses 100% on the individual.

Dear Cheddarrob

Thank you for your feedback, we had a very busy christmas day and lovely feedback helps to keep morale high.

I feel very fortunate to be part of his dedicated team and although there are long waits at times we really do the best we can.

I hope your wife continues to recover well.

Regards

Dear Cheddarrob,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story and I hope your wife is recovering well.

It is always rewarding to hear stories of how our staff are delivering care and support to patients and those around them when they need it most.

We would be happy to share your story with the ambulance staff involved in this instance, however, to do so we will need some specific information. If you would like us to do this, please may I ask you to contact us on either plaudits@swast.nhs.uk or 01392 261 534 and a member of the Patient Engagement Team will be happy to help you further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide us with feedback.

Kind regards,

Sharifa

Dear Cheddarrob,

Thank you very much for your kind feedback. The Acute Medical Unit is a busy environment to work in however the nursing and medical staff do their best to provide a quality service for all patients. I will share your story with the staff who, I am sure, will be pleased to hear that you and your wife experienced a valuable service.

I hope that your wife is recovering well and that you have both been able to celebrate Christmas albeit in a delayed fashion.

Thank you again for sharing your positive experience.

Best wishes

Sharon
