"Hospital Care"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Care of the Elderly (Wards 14,20,22)

(as a volunteer/advocate),

Ward 22 I have been here for 3 days, it’s very busy and noisy but it was nice to have some company. The food isn’t very good. Bathroom is run down but it is clean. The doctor came to see me a lot and the nurses are so busy. It gets a bit noisy when there’s a lot of visitors and it can be hard to hear things. Don’t find my bed very comfortable and I like lots of pillows but I have only 2. I am going home tomorrow which I am looking forward to, lots of thanks to the staff for looking after me.

I am sorry to hear that you remained in hospital over the festive period. The staff aim to give person centred care at all times and by providing you with extra pillows would have made you more comfortable would have helped. The Hospital is an ageing building, however we are looking to refurbish areas within wards to improve facilities until we have a new hospital.I am sorry you found the noise level loud, I will ask staff to remind visitors to be mindful of patients who are ill and require a more peaceful surrounding. Thank you for taking time to give us feedback on your experience in ward 22,I will pass on your comments to the SCN and staff of the ward and Hotel services.

Dear UHM34 (as a volunteer/advocate

I am sorry to hear that you did not find the food to your taste, I will pass these comments to the catering staff. We are working to refurbish ward areas within UHM, especially showers and toilets and our domestic staff do a great job in keeping them clean.

Regards

William
