"Mental Health Crisis"

About: London Ambulance Service NHS Trust Princess Royal University Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

Attended the A&E for mental health crisis.  PLN took so long to see me at least 4 hours even though there were only 2 patients ahead of me.  Had to keep asking when I would be seen and how long would it take, I was not given a time, even though felt highly stressed.

Partly was ignored, lots of staff about, but no time to stop.  I was almost forced to come in by the LAS.  I can see where they were coming from in terms of risk management, but it was more like coercion.  I was told at PRUH once my blood results came through that a doctor had my paperwork, this was 2.5hrs in total.  I then said I wanted to go home as I felt I was not being helped at all, but was told they would send the police to my address, even though the police I spoke to earlier said they felt comfortable they would not need to re-attend.

I honestly felt I had not been given any choices in the matter and have no faith whatsoever that this service works.
