"My stroke experience"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Rehabilitation

(as the patient),

My major stroke was 'heralded' over 48 hours by 'mini strokes' lasting only three to four minutes, affecting my right arm and leg, but which fully recovered. By the time I had phoned for an ambulance, the 'paralysis' had fully resolved even though the response time was less than ten minutes! After several 'call outs' I was taken to Nottingham City where my BP was found to be raised and I was given an out patient appointment. However on returning home the mini episodes continued and I was later readmitted with a right hemiplegia. Scans confirmed brain damage and I remained in hospital for  about six weeks.
