"Bipolar Self Management group feedback"

About: Highly Specialist Services / Short Term Educational Programme (STEP)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

What did you find helpful about the course?

I found it all helpful as it made me feel less alone and “crazy”, as other people understand what I’m going through and have been through it themselves.

Pharmacy session was great, but overall I found the course to be very helpful.

Outside of things I had covered in similar courses (on anxiety & depression) and my own learning, there were still some great insights on topics rarely covered

Things were explained that I didn’t really understand before – i.e. the difference between Bipolar Type 1& 2.

Did you find anything about the course unhelpful and if so what?

Problem Solving, as this just doesn’t work for me.

Early on when numbers were high, facilitating a large number of people who would talk over each other was stressful to me.

Nothing at all…all good.

What suggestions do you have for improvements to the course?

None!

What did you think about the facilitators and venue?

Facilitators great, venue great.

Well mannered people. Venue clean and quiet.

Excellent, thank you.

I thought the venue was okay. The facilitators were really helpful and always listened and understood what I had to say. I struggled with this with other mental health professionals so I found this really positive.

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to provide feedback regarding the Bi-Polar Self Management course.

I am really pleased that overall attendees felt listened to, felt the course provided them with useful information about the diagnosis and made some people feel less alone.

We are aware that group work content cannot always meet everyone's needs and try to provide a range of tools so that most people can access something useful to them.

It is really helpful to hear what attendees found useful or not and we do use this information when reviewing the content of the course, which we do periodically.
