Whilst in the queue to speak to reception the lady in front of me could not get to see a doctor even though she had waited for two hours. The receptionist was very blunt not caring and rude. The lady asked if she could make an appointment but was told point blank no ring in tomorrow, at which point the rather ill looking woman said in that case I won't bother. Then it was my turn. All I wanted was a firearms licence medical form filled in and signed. You would have thought I had asked for a miracle, again blunt as you like i was told there is a charge of £78. This seemed very high so I checked with Essex police who informed me that it was high and that the average price across the country is around £20. I was also told even though I paid three times the average price it would take a minimum of twenty eight days ,the police said it should take about a week. When I went back and told the receptionist her reply was well go elsewhere this is a private job, nothing to do with the NHS and we can charge what we like. Surely this defeats the whole idea of the form . Maybe West Mersea Doctors should start putting their patients first instead of their bank account.
The receptionist would have made a good prison officer, she is in the wrong job. I did not witness any form of care or compassion to anybody whilst waiting in the queue. Awful service.
"very rude and greedy"
