"Too long to wait for seeing the doctor "

About: Well Street Surgery

I just phoned the surgery and im very disappointed that my next available appointment with the doctor is on the 7th January next years today is the 11 of dicenbre 26 days before I can se my gp this is a disgrace, one upon a time gp were family doctors, and care about the individual, now they only want as in and out of the surgery fast, its all about numbers, and I don't believe that bigger surgery are the solution, I don't have a choice regarding my gp surgery as is very close to my home, so it's easier, said that, I don't recommend it for people with on going problems, as they been messy around with my medication, this is the reality I missed the good times when's gp was a friendly face, now is scary u can only talk to the doctor one problem at the time, if u say u got more than one thing they'll say next time, the problem next time could be the last, or waiting 2 to 3 weeks to see a gp, very disappointed with their practice,

Dear Mr Lombardi, thank you for your feedback.

I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the wait for a routine GP appointment. This is certainly a problem that the NHS as a whole is facing and one that we are trying hard to address at Well Street Surgery. Should you need an emergency appointment prior to your next routine appointment we do run a daily telephone triage system for urgent medical queries which works on the basis of a call back from a member of the urgent care team. Sometimes queries can be dealt with over the phone however if an appointment is necessary this can be arranged in an appropriate timeframe according to the urgency of the medical condition. A number of appointments are held back every day to enable our team to see the most urgent cases.

Unlike other GP practices we do not have a strict one problem per appointment policy however it may not be safe or indeed practical for a GP to try to address multiple concerns in one 10 minute appointment. If this is the case it is likely that you will be asked to book a followup appointment in order that each medical complaint can be dealt with thoroughly.

I do hope that you feel more satisfied with your care going forward however should you wish to discuss your concerns further please do not hesitate to contact me or our Practice Manager Rey Felek via our practice email address CAHCCG.WellStreetSurgery@nhs.net.

Thank you again for your comments.

Dr J Mackenzie (GP Partner, Well Street Surgery)
