I called 111 the day after I tripped off a kerb and injured my ankle. I described my symptoms to a paramedic on the phone and was told it was just a sprain. He advised me that if it was broken I would not be able to put any weight on it so I just needed to rest it. Three days later it had not improved so I called my doctor and was told the same thing and advised that there was no need to go to A&E. Two days later a friend insisted on taking me to A&E where I was x-rayed and informed that my ankle was broken. I am so annoyed with both the paramedic and my doctor giving me the incorrect advice. I realise it's difficult to diagnose without seeing the injury, but they both seemed pretty confident that I did not need further examination. Had I listened to their advice I would have been hobbling around on a broken ankle for goodness knows how long causing further damage
