"Memory loss"

About: Community Mental Health Services / Older Adult CMHT – Stirling

(as a service user),

My wife, in her 80s, was referred by our GP to a clinic for Mental Health in Old Age, having suffered significant short term memory loss after being knocked over by a large dog about 12 months ago, resulting in an extremely painful back injury lasting many months.

We were seen in a local health centre by Dr Pattan.  We were both impressed by his gentle, patient questioning into the details of the accident and how it had impacted our life style, indeed, changed it entirely. At the end he gave us his considered diagnosis, prescribing a medication, promised to arrange a CT head scan and said he would look into psychological help in dealing with my wife’s present terror of dogs.

She left feeling much  happier, that her problems had been given more consideration and help than she had hoped for, after approaching the consultation with considerable apprehension.
