"My baby girl having bronchiolitis"

About: Royal Derby Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

When I went into hospital with my baby girl I was absolutely traumatised and heartbroken at how unwell she was. She had stopped breathing on me and petrified me. I felt scared, anxious, upset and was a brand new mum as my premature baby was only three weeks old so I was extremely stressed. I was so scared of everything that was going on and we were placed onto the critical care unit dolphin ward at derby hospital. The first day my daughter received care from sister Gill she was absolutely amazing. She took all her time and effort to stay with me as I barely left my baby girls bedside. She took extra time to explain absolutely everything that was happening and every process they were doing. She didn’t need to but she specifically took time out to look after us both. I was so reassured by her and trusted her so much with my baby. We then received care from sister Sonya. She was absolutely outstanding, she listened to every single concern I had, explained everything she was doing, reassured me even when my baby was on CPAP and I was a complete wreck! She was the most amazing nurse I’ve ever had deal with me in my life. She ensured I had eaten, showered, and slept. She ensured my baby girl was okay every single step of the way and she never left her side for me. She trusted me and I trusted her 100% and I felt completely listened to.

Sonya went above and beyond for me and my daughter and I can’t thank her enough and I will forever be grateful for the way she made me feel and how she looked after me. I’ll never forget.

So dolphin ward, derby royal, your all amazing and doing an amazing job!!
