"Gynaecology referral"

About: Health Harmonie Limited

(as a service user),

I was referred to a consultant because of very painfully heavy periods (HBM) the GP was very nice, but gave no leaflets on hysteroscopy or Menorrhagia. When I revised a letter from health hormonie it said to take  pain killers  in case they take a biopsy my husband rang to ask whats going on and they reassured him they would not do any thing  but in a resent conversation with them they said it would of been explained first but in letter from them it  says it is often done in clinic i see from a previous complaint on here this has happened before. 2 years on and you are still doing endometrial biopsy with out informed consent                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           when i  had the appointment with the consultant my husband asked about the possibility of a subtotal hysterectomy rather than a full they laughed (not in a nasty way) and said you haven't read the leaflet have you, to which we both said what leaflet? we were then given the leaflet on Menorrhagia BUT not the one on hysterscopy that I was referred for. I said I wanted GA to which they were happy to do so if not relieved. in a resent conversation with them it is written that the doctor thought it best to do this under GA THIS IS NOT THE CASE i refused outpatient   which brings me on to another point.

At no point was pain mentioned in outpatient or the fact I was at higher risk of pain only discomfort or any screening questions. Because of the Montgomery court case it is a Legal Requirement to give me informed consent/material risk. I believe this should include the possibility of severe pain and in some that high that 1 in 20 can not complete the op. or 1 in 4 find it severely painful and in a resent conversation my it appears to be procedures NOT TO TELL WOMEN  If it was not for the preams nurse I would not have felt supported in fact I felt like I was being a pain because I did not want the outpatient procedure.

I am now worried that if I have problems later on in life to when I can not have a General anaesthetic I will be sent for a outpatient hysteroscopy with no pain relief as I consider paracetamol and ibuprofen to be placebos  I feel so conflicted as a had such great treatment when I had it done under GA .I do not trust health harmonie the consultants are world class the honesty and information has not been
