"Wonderful care after a stroke and fall"

I stayed for a week for rehab after being treated for a stroke and a fall in the William Harvey hospital. The care and professionalism of the staff was wonderful. All the nurses took extremely good care of me and I cannot praise them enough in this regard. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They treated me with dignity and took time to help me in every regard. I felt safe and in very capable hands. I was in the Benenden wing and the team were wonderful. This is a terrific place for rehab if you have had a fall or stroke as the staff are well versed in treating patients with broken hips, legs etc. The treatment was Tailored to your needs and wants. The physio team took time to help me rehab so I could go home prepared for everyday life. They have a full gym with all the equipment to help you practice walking( parallel bars). Practice stairs and very helpful, professional staff to help you practice and to get stronger. They do work you hard but it’s worth it as they know what they are doing. They also cater for stroke victims and have healthcare professionals who specialise in this.

All in all I cannot praise everyone enough for the help they gave me to get back on my feet and home again to get my life back on track.

The food is also very good too and helps in the rehab process. They encourage you to dish out your cereal yourself but are there to help if you need it

Very difficult and unfair to single people out as everyone deserves big thanks from me for their care and professionalism

One thing would have made my stay better would have been WiFi so I could communicate with friends and family about how I was getting on and to be able to watch tv on my iPad as the tv on offer was free view and didn’t cater for my tastes. If it could be installed it would definitely have increased my stay in a better way so I could email friends and family about my experience. Visiting was easy for people and they even allowed dogs to visit which was fantastic as I have a greyhound whom I love dearly and it would appear the other patients enjoyed seeing too. Great idea
