"My experience at ty llidiard"

About: Ty Llidiard

(as the patient),

I have been a patient at ty llidiard for 14 months over 4 different admissions. These were spread over 2017 and 2018 I was in from 2-6 months at a time. I was admitted to be treated for my anorexia, depression and anxiety- I was heavily self-harming and attempting to take my own life. While being there I was able to self-harm and act on anorexic behaviours, meaning staff and the system were not strict enough or doing their jobs correctly! On my final admission I managed to attempt to take my own life twice,

I should’ve never of had the chance to even attempt to take out such actions. Furthermore, patients are to be checked on by staff every ‘X’ minutes (depending on individual needs) and there were many occasions where I was meant to be checked on every 5 minutes and I hadn’t been seen to for over 3 hours!

However, as many mistakes the hospital did make, they still saved my life. Certain staff members helped me see hope again and believe there was life after my illnesses and for that reason I am extremely grateful! Some staff have had a huge impact on my life and I still regularly think about them and think about how appreciative I am! Ty llidiard staff, kept me alive when all I wanted to do was die. They gave me nutrients when I refused to do it myself and at the time I hated them for it but now I couldn’t be more grateful!

The hospital and staff could improve by many things but they are also doing a good job in certain areas!
