I was under the impression that if a patient buzzes for help when on a ward that patients needs would be attended to within a sufficient timescale. This week I've visited a friend several times and witnessed patients buzzing and buzzers going off and patients ignored. Why? Nursing staff are stood or sat updating computers. HCA's are stood around chatting to each other. Today though a patient buzzed and it went off for 20 minutes and a HCA thought decorating the ward Christmas tree was more a priority. It is not just C3 ward, I witnessed the same on D1 when I myself was an inpatient for two days in October 2019. Patients in the same bay as me buzzing for help and being ignored. I am aware the NHS is struggling financially but to actually see patients needing the toilet and not being attended to is disgraceful.
