"felt like a total inconvenience"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital

(as the patient),

I was admitted to the triage department firstly and I cannot fault the midwife that promptly saw me there and explained what was going to happen.

I was then seen by the consultant who said I would be admitted for further tests and kept an eye on.

I arrived in summerfield ward and it changed. Not one person introduced themselves or told me what to expect. Not one midwife came to see me that night apart from the auxiallry who asked what I wanted for breakfast. I heard the midwife with other women in the room but not once did anyone come to introduce themselves or see that I was ok.

Morning came, I had been awake most of the night and again was clueless what to expect I have never been admitted to hospital before. Again I saw nobody apart from delivery of breakfast from a very rude auxiliary who dumped it on my table like it was an inconvenience.

The midwife still never came to see that I was ok or if I needed anything at all.

I am due to have my baby in couple weeks time and I so hope I do not end up here.

It took for me to have pain and palpitations again for anybody to come and see me. I was worried throughout the whole stay but yet no one could spend five minutes and say hello I’m your midwife for tonight/today.

I felt like a total inconvenience being there when it should have been the opposite. I know my baby wasn’t coming or I wasn’t in labour but I am a mum to be who was worried and just wanted reassurance.

I work in healthcare myself so I know it’s busy and stressful but that’s not your patient's fault.

The only good thing out of this admission was the lovely doctor that came to see me and explained what was going on, that my baby was fine etc.
