"Stonebridge centre Nottingham"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult Mental Health Services - Community (City)

(as a service user),

I feel the Stonebridge Centre Nottingham is not fit for purpose and as a client I would be better off, if I was referred back to my GP.

The Stonebridge is meant to provide specialist mental health advice and treatment to those people which a GP has found first line treatments been ineffective. As somebody under their care having been referred by my GP, I would expect some sort of safety net there to help or at least try to help when at my lowest point.

I have been led to believe the duty officer is my point of contact if you are having unmanageable difficulties. I tried this about a week ago and all I got for my efforts was somebody shouting down the phone demanding I tell them what I wanted.

I know Stonebridge is understaffed and underfunded but humanity and kindness costs nothing.

Dear Thereals

I am sorry to read about your experience of the service you have received from one of the teams based within the Stonebridge Centre. You are entirely right that the Local Mental Health Teams are there as a secondary service to offer specialist advice and treatment to yourself and your GP. It is with great sadness to read that you have not felt that the advice provided by the duty worker was kind nor offered you any humanity at a time of great need.

I take any feedback, positive or negative, to the team and clinician(s) involved in the delivery of care; to share good practice but in cases such as yours, review the experience and reflect upon how this could and should have been better. Kindness and humanity cost us nothing and are usually qualities I see in buckets from the clinicians within our teams. So in order for me to take your matter further, I would be realy grateful if you would make contact with me, either by phone 0115 9691300 or by email sarah.toone@nottshc.nhs.uk. If you prefer I can protect your confidentiality whilst investigating your concerns further and we can jointly agree how to proceed in terms of offering feedback on your experience to the clinicians involved.

Kind Regards

Sarah Toone
