"My admission and 3 Day stay"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Combined Assessment Unit (CAU) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

I had a seizure at home.

I was taken by ambulance and admitted to Crosshouse Hospital Where I spent 3 full days, one in the Incident Assessment Unit and the other 2 in a medical ward, awaiting a discussion of my case with a consultant.

I have nothing but the highest praise for everyone who looked after me during those 3 days.  The nursing and cleaning staff were positive, encouraging and helpful in everything they did, not only to me but to every patient in the areas where I was.

I felt like an imposter as my 2nd and 3rd days were spent in a medical ward, waiting for my case to be discussed with a consultant. .  Apparently, they don’t work at weekends

Anyway, I would very much appreciate my sincere thanks being passed on to Crosshouse Hospital for their first class standards.  Every patient in my ward received First class care

Dear Stewarton wattie19

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on CareOpinion. I am so sorry that you had reason to use our services and those of our partners in Crosshouse. I do hope that you are on the road to a full recovery and are feeling better.

It sounds like you were treated very well in the hospital and well done to al the staff who contributed to your care in what must have been a frightening time. I am sure that their teams will have these lovely comments passed.

I hope you do not need to use our services again in the near future and I wish you all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan

Dear Stewarton wattie19

We are grateful for you taking the time to post information regarding your recent stay at Crosshouse hospital. I will convey your kind words to the staff within the unit. I am sorry your stay was prolonged because of your wait to be seen by a Consultant and this delayed decisions being made. It is recognised that the reduction of Senior cover at weekends creates challenges for the staff on duty to review all patients and the priorities have to be made for those who are reviewed by the Senior staff around.

I was pleased to hear that all staff treated you well and that you observed this when they were with others too in the ward. We try to ensure all our patients are treated with dignity and respect.

Like the previous post I hope you are recovering now.

Linda, Clinical Nurse Manager
