I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to the members of the Grampian Ambulance Staff for the excellent service they provide.
I suffer from a long standing illness that requires frequent hospital admissions. The majority of the time I am transported by members of the team from Banff although during extremely busy times, staff from Keith, Buckie and Elgin have taken me.
On my last admission to hospital a few weeks ago I was very fortunate to be in the care of a Paramedic called Albert. During the journey to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary I was in a lot of pain and became extremely distressed when I began to vomit fecal matter. Albert administered Entinox to help my pain and kept me informed of my recordings which he was monitoring. He explained everything he was doing, what each of the recordings were for and continually reassured me that they were indicating that things were satisfactory. My temperature was raised so he put cold cloths on my head and back of my neck whilst wiping down my face and giving me sips of water to rinse my mouth. He also kept me updated of our location and of how soon we would be at the hospital. Despite the fact that I was so distressed and in a state of panic due to the fecal vomiting, Albert remained calm and completely in control of the situation. His caring and professional approach throughout the journey gave me the reassurance that I needed to help me feel calmer and less distressed.
As I mentioned at the beginning of this letter, all of the ambulance staff who have attended me over the years have always provided excellent service and I can’t thank them enough however I just wanted to highlight the actions of paramedic Albert whom I feel was exceptional on this particular occasion.
"Excellent care from Ambulance team"
