"Mammogram appointment"

About: Solihull Hospital / Radiology

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. I had my annual check up at the breast clinic in October. I was I would receive an appointment for my annual mammogram for the end of November.

I hadn't heard anything, so I phoned the Radiology Department.

I was told an appointment hadn't been made yet and I would receive it in the post.

The following Monday, I received a phone call from radiology. The person said "I'm phoning about your appointment on Wednesday" (of the same week) and I said I didn't know anything about an appointment , and that I had already phoned on Friday. I explained it was too short notice to attend on the Wednesday.

I decided to make a complaint, so I phoned and  spoke to a senior staff member who told me an appointment letter had been printed that morning. (Monday).

I said that the there was no way I would have received the letter in time. They later phoned me and offered me an appointment for December, which I accepted.

This has caused me great anxiety and inconvenience, especially considering a mammogram is a worrying thing to have done in my circumstances.

I will be writing to my consultant with my concerns about the way I been treated.

I received no apology from the Radiology Department or the Manager of Radiology.
