"How all hospitals should be run"

About: Orthopaedics & Spine Specialist Hospital Site

I was very afraid of having my hip replaced; I was afraid of the pain post-op, afraid of the wound becoming infected, afraid of blood clots forming - I was terrified of facing the whole situation and delayed it as long as possible.

However, I need not have had any concerns whatsoever.

The staff, from the receptionist on my arrival, to the nurse who prepared me for the operation, to the anaesthetist who explained what I could expect, and ultimately to the consultant who put me completely at ease. I had complete confidence in his judgement and I have followed his advice to the letter.

I was relieved to find that after the operation I had much less discomfort than I had expected and was able to stand on my operated leg the same day. The nurses were extremely attentive and always patient and pleasant no matter what the task.

The physiotherapist was practical and extremely encouraging. The radiographer had a lovely sense of humour which helped when I was struggling about on crutches.

I cannot fault the cleanliness of the hospital or the facilities.

Even the food was exceptional with good choice of meals and they were nicely presented.

The care I have received before, during and after my stay has been first class and I would definitely recommend this hospital to anyone. All hospitals should be run like this one but sadly are falling well short of the mark.

I cannot thank my surgeon and his team enough for their diligence and care.
