(as the patient),

Early morning wakened and unable to use left hand properly. Had difficulty speaking and was a bit confused. Managed to phone 999 and within 20 mins was seen by two great lady ambulance paramedics. They promptly understood that I was suffering a TIA or a mini-stroke and had me into accident and emergency pronto.

There I was assessed, bloods taken and hooked up to ECG.

All in all I really wanted to thank everyone from 999 dispatcher, ambulance crew and the wonderful staff at ARI.

Many thanks for taking the time to feedback regarding your recent illness and for the care that you received during what must have been a frightening experience for you.

I am so glad that you managed to call 999 and that the paramedic team were able to get you to the emergency department quickly and get assessed.

Time is very important when a TIA or stroke is suspected and so pleased that you received the care that you required.

The team will be delighted to read you story and your thanks to all involved in your care.

My TIA was at 8.30 on a Monday. Two young responders came out.

Although I was a bit befuddled they kept me calm and quickly sorted me out and took me to accident and emergency. The same level of care proceeded there and so hats off to you all. I’m fine now. No lasting issues. Have to watch blood pressure and have quit the bottle of wine of an evening. Ah well c’est la vie
