My Grandmother was admitted to the Stroke Unit following an extensive period in Ward 4 and also MAU. I was very impressed by the staff in all wards. But in particular, the stroke ward. I wanted to ensure to give feedback to a nurse called Linda.
There was only one fault I could pick up on, which was the lack of communication the day my Grandmother deteriorated (she picked up the following day, and then died 3 days after).
Other than this, the staff were amazing, and Linda - who literally stopped everything she was doing (which was a very busy night shift drug round) briefly to attend to me, my uncle and my Grandmother.
It cannot be of justice to describe her manner, because words can't get close. She was the most empathetic, understanding, and caring nurse I have came across. She seemed passionate, like she wasn't being paid - this was her personality that drove this.
I want her to know, as much as many of the other staff, including Liz, and a male nurse who I think was Australian, that there were so many kind and thoughtful gestures used and said by staff which made our visit, and made my Grandmother's last days much more bearable.
Me and my uncle made her laugh, which probably could be heard up the ward at 9pm at night - this continued right up until her last breath - which was a nice thing to remember. She was not a miserable or moany person.
Also I would like to say a huge thank you to the dialysis staff, as if it wasn't for them, I know My Grandmother and my Uncle would not survive.
The dialysis ward was like her second home.
So please give my upmost recognition to all the staff that this will not be forgotten, and is very appreciated by myself, and especially my Uncle who was my Grandmother's carer for a number of years, and in my opinion, dialysis were too.
This will never be forgotten
Thank you
"Granny"
