"Recovery Ambassador Group Feedback “Recovery Rocks….Keep on Rockin!”"

About: Sheffield treatment and recovery team / substance misuse

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

The “A-Team” discussed their thoughts about the ambassador scheme that they are all currently part of:

There was a really positive discussion about how good they are finding the Recovery Ambassador Group….

- It’s excellent

- I look forward to coming

- I’m grateful to be on this course

- No-one judges you, it feels like they understand you

- Gives me more confidence

- Feel supported

- The Northern College is excellent

- Absolutely brilliant

- I love coming here

- Staff are excellent

- Really good content really informative

- Staff really know their stuff

- Would come every day if I could!

The only areas where they thought there could be any improvements were around technology.  One was that the photocopier doesn’t work so they don’t get paper copies of things that they have been learning about and that would be really helpful.

- I like to make notes on the paper copies.

- I like to keep the paper copies so I can refer back to them in the future

The other issue that was flagged up was that the emails don’t always arrive to everyone

Overall there was a real positive feel about the Ambassador Scheme and they are really enjoying their time on the course so far.

I was so pleased to read your feedback about the Ambassadors course - Thank you!

Working with the ambassadors scheme is a truly rewarding part of my job, and reminds me all the time that people can and do make incredible changes in their lives. Recovery is about far more than stopping self destructive behaviour, it's what you go on to do next and the difference you make.

You are a great bunch of people and in different ways you've each overcome many obstacles. The fact that you want to support and inspire others, and you are giving your time, compassion and your life experience to show them recovery really is achievable, and that there are so many more possibilities in life - I think that's something you should feel proud of.

As for the photocopier - I'm sorry it's been a while coming, but we do have a replacement now!

Best wishes

Jo Radford
