"Emergency admission with a detached retina"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Ophthalmology (Eye Problems)

(as the patient),

Sent to ARI with a detached retina. As a member of NHS Grampian  staff working in Dr Gray's I saw another side to the service as a patient for 4 nights. I was admitted to ward 203 in ARI and had to have a vitrectomy. The care from all the  nurses, doctors, domestics, theatre staff, health care assistants and recovery staff was caring professional and everyone explained what was happening. Thank you to Miss Greiner and all the team for looking after me. Hope you enjoy the donuts, biscuits and chocolates.

Many, many thanks for sharing your experience on Care Opinion. Ward 203 is a very busy area with lots of elective and emergency activity. Your story shows what great teamwork can achieve for patients with everyone contributing to the overall delivery of care and services. I know the aftercare for this type of surgery is quite stringent so I hope you are coping alright with it.

Thank you also for the kind gesture of consumable goodies - always welcome by ever hungry NHS staff.
