"The Rehabilitation ward gave us our life back"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Rehabilitation Pilgrim Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

I found my husband unresponsive at our home in august 2019, he was rushed to pilgrim hospital boston Lincolnshire then within hours rushed to queens medical in Nottingham with a basal ganglia bleed to the brain.

Once he was stable he was transferred back to pilgrim hospital boston, at this point I lost all hope of any recovery or of the life we once shared, then we were given a life line we were told about a rehabilitation ward at Lincoln county hospital called Ashby ward, we were told that someone would come and access which they did and my husband was offered a place.

He was transferred a few days later. We were made to feel welcome by all the staff, within days I started to see my husband come back to me we were given hope and could see the light at the end of the very long tunnel.

It's though the hard work and dedication of the staff and the physio that he received on a daily basis that 7 weeks later he walked out of that ward using a stick.

Ashby ward gave us our life back, their input continues with the rehabilitation outreach team, my husbands aim and goal is to walk back on the ward aid free and hand them back the stick.
